Yes, I could teach someone to read if it were a little book to start out with. On a longer page I would have to take more time to teach them because if they cant read then they cant read. They are going to need a little exrtra time if they are younger because they cnat comprehend it all. if they are older they are going to understand.
I don't think you can "teach" a person to read.....I think that you give them the tools they need to use when they try to read. If I was giving someone reading tools I would say for them to do the following things:
1.) Look at pictures before you look at words.
2.) Stretch the big words out into little chunks.
3.) If you come to a word you don't know use context clues.
4.) Try to relate the story to yourself, other books you've read, and the world.
5.) Make sure you understand what the vocabulary words mean before you start.
Sorry!! I pressed enter. Anyway,I think that I could teach a younger person to read because you have to start off with an easy book. If it is a long paragraph, you would have to take time and explain. Another words, you ease them through. You go on,and get harder books until they can read.
